Pinterest Inspiration....

I made this layout using the ad pictured below as inspiration that I pinned on Pinterest here. I loved the floral top with the strong dark color at the bottom and white in between for the photo, but the photo I wanted to use was vertical, and I didn't like the way it overlapped the colored blocks, so I turned the whole layout on it's side! That way the photo stayed between the white and was framed by the colored borders. The colors from the inspiration piece were what caught my eye first, so I stayed pretty true to that, just substituting navy blue for the black. I wanted to add circles like the inspiration piece, so I cut a circle background piece using my Silhouette. I first had it covering the whole layout, but it made the floral piece way to busy looking, so I tucked it under that part of the background. I just added a few embellishments around my photo with the title - which includes some gold thread bunched in spots for a more organic look - and some small stamped butterflies down the white block to really draw your eye to the photo and I was done!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I'll have a blogpost next week using a new inspiration piece from Pinterest that I will use to make a layout/project. I hope you'll check back then!! :)

Elle's Studio is having a Birthday Celebration!!

Elle's Studio is turning 7 this week and they are letting everyone join in the fun!! Here are the details!!

-Orders over $5 will receive a free gift (shown in photo above)
-Orders of $50 or more, that ship to a USA address, will receive free shipping with the coupon code: 50freeship. For our Canada/International friends, your order of $75 or more ships free with coupon code: 75freeship.

Here's a layout I made using some of the freebies you can receive just by ordering $5 or more of merchandise!! This is only the second 8 1/2 x 11 layout and it was hard to leave it like this. I tried to attach it to several different 12x12 papers, but the design wasn't clean enough for the look I was going for. I really wanted my photo to shine on this!

For my design, I used an idea I got from the many many ideas that I've pinned (but never used before) on Pinterest. I'm making it my goal to use one idea that I've pinned once a week on a project so this is week/project #1!
Here's the pin I used - http://www.pinterest.com/pin/38139928068640888/ . I used the second photo which, I think, is the front cover of a restaurant menu.

There is a tiny sneak peek of one of the products that you will receive if you purchase the March  Elle's Studio kit. I'm not telling what it is though...;)!

I used a photo of my older kids whose birthday's are just 6 days apart. I usually make them each a cake for their birthday, but this year we were going out of town so we celebrated them both with one huge 2 in 1 cake (two cake boxes, three icings, 4 layers of cake and lots of candles!!).
I used one of the journal card freebies for my hidden journaling. I cut the corners of it to make it look like a tag, punched a hole and tied a piece of ribbon, then slid it into a vellum pocket housed in back of my photo.

I used the papers from the Paper Collection Pack and the Bits and Pieces from the Everyday Moments Collection by Elle's Studio.

Make sure you check out the website here to order!! And hurry before the offer ends at the end of the month (or the supplies run out) !!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!!
